What We've Been Working On: Rah Rah!

We've been busy bees this week.  first we tackled the throne cover project and then threw ourselves headlong into this cool triple applique project for a local high school's cheer leading squad.

We started with some die-cut shapes and letters made to resemble the lettering on the teams old uniforms.

We placed the bottom layer on the uniform and stitched it on along the outer edges.

We then added top embroidery to serve as a guideline for placing the next layer.

The middle layer is then lined up over the first...

and stitched along the edges.

An outline is then stitched on top as a guideline for letter placement and the letters are then carefully placed on top.

We then stitch around the edges of the letters

And with that we're ready to rock.  Go team!

What We've Been Up To: Dress Up Your Throne

Who doesn't need a throne?  Well, most of us probably get through life without one, I suppose.  But if you do happen to have one, shouldn't it be as regal as possible?  Otherwise, what's the point?  For the past few months, we've been working with the fine people at Samadhi Cushions in Vermont to embroider a very specific design for them onto silk shantung fabric which will be used as a throne cover.

First we spent weeks hand-digitizing the intricate designs they supplied us with.

Next we embroidered smaller elements of the overall design pieces of the overall design separately.

Then we had to place our mama- frame on our 4-head machine.  This frame, standing on end, is about 6 feet tall.  Needless to say, it is somewhat of a process getting it on and off our machine.

Some of the smaller pieces were then placed on the large fabric and appliqued on.
.

We then enhanced the designs with top embroidery

The final Throne back

The Throne front   ( final except for center embroidered panels to be attached by customer).

We'd love to  thank Jeanette and Michael at Samadhi Cushions for the opportunity to stretch our creative muscles on this project aver the past several weeks.  It's been a challenge and a delight to create this for you.

Thing that's making us smile this week: The Crayon-Bow

Crayola Color Chart, 1903-2010

As a fan of color and design, I've held a life long fascination with Crayola.  Was there anything more magical than opening that giant box of crayons as a kid and finding shades and hues you never knew existed?  This awesome graphic details all of Crayola's color incarnations, showing how the color selection has vastly increased, and - of course - how the names have gotten "more colorful" with each passing decade.

What we've been working on this week

We always enjoy our work.  Digitizing, embroidering, and designing feed our creative urges - but every once in a while we get to work on a project that's just so much fun!  This week, we've been working on some super cute burp cloths for a customer who's about to become a new Aunt.  We worked with her for well over an hour, choosing designs, colors, fonts and sayings - and now seeing these little guys all stitched is making us all giddy! Embroiderd burp cloths or cloth diapers are always a great, fun and memorable gift to give an expectant Mom.  Not only are they cute as can be, but they also can be so sweet and personal.  We're loaded with ideas over here, so why don't you come in and have us create a truly memorable gift for your next gift-giving occasion?  We can always use more "giddiness!"

This Just In: Reverse Appliqué Apparel

While recently attending the New England Apparel Show, our owners discovered a new trend many of the vendors were now carrying: reverse appliqué.  Mostly used for school and team apparel, reverse appliqué offers a distinctively different look to spirit wear.

Instead of letter which is traditionally screen printed, embroidered, or cut and sewn onto the top of a shirt,  the reverse appliqué process cuts the lettering out of the garment, then a contrasting piece of fabric is placed behind the cutouts and stitched onto the garment so as to show through the holes.  The result is very hip and stylish.  Interested in a sweatshirt for your team or school?  Contact us, or stop in to our showroom to see samples and for more information.

What we've been working on this week

This week we got to assist the Easter Bunny with a very special task: creating a little girl's dream bedding set.  Apparently, this little girl has been looking everywhere for a set of sheets with golden retrievers on them, but to no avail.  So, not one to take "no" for a n answer, the "Easter Bunny" came our way and we were happy to help him out.  We embroidered this Pillow Sham with a large Retriever head, embroidered three small Goldens on the pillow case and along the top edge of the flat sheet, and  stitched another large Golden retriever head in the center of the comforter and added a few scattered, smaller retrievers around him.  The result went over quite well, or so the "Easter Bunny" reports to us.

What we've been working on this week

It's Spring!  Have you noticed?  Well WE have! Not only is the extra sunshine giving us all a little extra bounce in our step, but we're also seeing more and more work coming in for the upcoming Spring & Summer sports season.  This week we completed this super cool design for the back of a racing jacket.  We're sure this driver will be zipping along even faster with this sharp looking jacket on his back!  Give us a call or stop in to our showroom to see what special design we can embroider or screen print for you!

What we've been working on this week

"I Scream!  You Scream!  We all  Scream for Ice Cream!"  In the frozen, snowy wilds of northern New Hampshire, it seems a long time before we'll hear the dulcet tones of children hollering this refrain, but the meteorologists, groundhogs and calendars all assure us that Spring is just around the corner.  We may be a little harder to convince after dealing with the fallout of Monday's Mega-storm, and that was why it was so nice to have these awesome tees to work on this week.  We love our friends at Udderly Delicious and especially love their fun logo. Every Spring a large order of tees is placed and they are all gobbled up by Udderly's devoted fans by mid-Summer.  (Aaaah, mid-Summer....) Doing this four-color screen printing job on a rainbow assortment of tees was like Spring coming right into our work shop!
